Connectivity Statuses
In EV Portal each Charge Station has one of the following three connectivity statuses at any given time:
Online
A Charge Station with connection status online is connected to the internet and can exchange live data with the GreenFlux backend. Online status is crucial for providing a seamless driver experience and up-to-date availability information in both EV Portal and drivers' charge apps.
Offline
A Charge Station appears as offline in GreenFlux when our backend can no longer reach it and the Charge Station stops sending HeartBeat messages. Charge Stations may go offline for various reasons, such as local network issues, antenna problems, or physical damage to the station.
When GreenFlux misses two consecutive PDUs, the system sends a trigger message to verify if the Charge Station is responsive. If there's no response, the Charge Station's status changes to offline. Note: While the Heartbeat is set to 900 seconds, checks will occur at 900-second intervals even if the Heartbeat is set lower.
To verify the status of the charger, you can send a Get Configuration remote command. When you receive a "Delivered" message, it confirms that the backend (GFX platform) has successfully connected to the charge station. Here's how to do it:
- In the charge station view, click the additional options arrow on the right side
- Click "Get Configuration" and confirm your selection

Charging while Offline - Most charge stations are configured to allow charging even after losing connection. However, this has several drawbacks: drivers may charge for free since authorization isn't required, the station receives fewer visits because it doesn't appear as available in charging apps, and invoicing is delayed since GreenFlux can only receive the queued meter values needed to generate CDRs (Charge Detail Records) after the connection is restored.
Unknown
When a Charge Station's connection status is unknown, we cannot determine if it is connected to the internet because it has never successfully connected to the GreenFlux backend.

Online and Offline statuses are not monitored in real time. Instead, they are determined by the Last PDU Received, a timestamp in EvPortal that GreenFlux receives through a HeartBeat message. If GreenFlux misses two consecutive PDUs (or HeartBeat messages), the Charge Station's connection status changes from Online to Offline.
