Charge Station Connector Status

Intro

A Connector can be in different states. They are also passed on via Roaming to Apps that EV Drivers use.

Overview of states

There is a set of states that are defined via OCPP and received from the Charge Station, another set of states defined in OCPI and shared via Roaming and finally what states GreenFlux supports and how they map.

*Preparing and Finishing are not mapped, but the previous state is remaining in effect.

Extra information:

Removed

When a Charging Station is moved or an EVSE is deleted, Greenflux sends a 'Removed' Connector status to the roaming networks, but in the EvPortal there is no 'Removed' status to be selected.

Blocked

Not supported by GreenFlux. Ideally Preparing would be mapped to Blocked, however these states can come quite quickly and in the wrong order, making it not usable unfortunately

OCPP and GreenFlux definitions

OCPP State
OCPP description
Available
When a Connector becomes available for a new user
Preparing*
Connector is occupied when a user presents a tag or inserts a cable
Charging
When the contactor of a Connector closes, allowing the vehicle to charge
SuspendedEVSE
When the EVSE stops the charging, i.e. when it could charge, but it got a command not to. Mainly due to local or GreenFlux Smart Charging restriction.
SuspendedEV
When the EVSE is ready to charge but the EV doesn’t request energy
Finishing
When a charging session has stopped at a Connector, but the Connector is not yet available for a new user, e.g. the cable has not been removed
Reserved
When a Connector receives Reserve Now command
Unavailable
When a Connector becomes unavailable as the result of a Change Availability command or an event upon which the Charge Point transitions to unavailable at its discretion.
Faulted
When a Charge Point or connector has reported an error
Unknown
No status information available. (Also used when offline)

*Depending on the Charge Station, Preparing can be interpreted that it is blocked. For starting via an App this means that when inserting a cable and then starting a session, the CS might reject it as it is in a 'blocked' state. In this case, a User first needs to start a session and then insert a cable.
