Charge station Remote Commands

The EvPortal provides Charge Station Operators (CPOs) with remote command tools to assist drivers who need support at a charging station. CPOs can send an unlock command to release a cable if a driver has trouble removing it from an EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment). Additionally, charging sessions can be started and stopped remotely through the EvPortal if drivers are unable to do so through their charging app.

Β
Use the Unlock Connector command from EvPortal

To unlock a connector from the Charge Station, navigate to CPO β†’ Charge Station. Filter by the Charge Station ID where the driver is connected, then open the details page.

Before proceeding, confirm which EVSE and connector the driver is using, as the unlock command applies to a single connector, not the entire Charge Station.

Click Unlock at the bottom of the correct EVSE details section:

After clicking Yes, the connector will unlock.

If unlocking fails, try performing a 'hard reset' and wait a few minutes.

Β
Use the Start Transaction command from EvPortal

Once a vehicle connects to a Charge Station, charging can be initiated through a remote start command in EvPortal.

The correct station can be found by navigating to CPO β†’ Charge Station and filtering by Charge Station ID.

On the Charge Station details page, click Start Transaction on the desired EVSE:

The "Remote Start Charging Session" wizard will open. Select the connector and enter a Token ID (Chip ID) to authenticate the session:

After clicking Start Transaction in the 'Remote Start Charging Session' wizard, the EVSE will change from 'available' to 'preparing' status. Once authentication succeeds, the transaction begins and the status changes to 'charging'.

Use the Stop Transaction command from EvPortal

An ongoing charging session can be stopped remotely from EvPortal using the Stop Transaction command.

The Stop Transaction button becomes available on an EVSE when there is an active charging session, indicated by the blue 'charging' banner on the EVSE. To stop a transaction, navigate to CPO β†’ Charge Station, open the relevant Charge Station, locate the correct EVSE and click Stop Transaction:

After clicking Yes, the transaction stops and the status changes from 'charging' (blue banner) to 'finishing'.
