How to Set Up Smappee Local Meters via EV Portal

Overview

This guide will help you set up Smappee local meters with your smart charging group. The setup involves installing hardware, establishing connections, and configuring settings in both Smappee and GreenFlux systems.

Prerequisites

  • Smappee hardware (from authorized supplier)
  • Internet connection (not using GreenFlux Tele2 SIM cards)
  • Access to Smappee app and portal
  • Access to GreenFlux EVPortal

Step-by-Step Setup Process

1. Install Smappee Hardware

Follow these steps to install your Smappee hardware:

  1. Install the Smappee hardware according to the manufacturer's instructions
  1. Use the Smappee app for initial setup
  1. Ensure the installation follows the guidelines in the Smappee Installation Manual

2. Set Up Internet Connection

Configure a stable internet connection using one of these methods:

  • LAN connection
  • WiFi connection
  • SIM card (not GreenFlux Tele2)
Important: Ensure a reliable connection. If the connection drops, charging capacity will default to safe minimum levels.

3. Configure Load Types

Set up the correct load types in the Smappee system:

  • "Grid" - For measuring the main grid connection
  • "Circuit" - For measuring the combined power consumption of charge stations
Note: Only configure "Grid" and "Circuit" load types. Other types are not supported for smart charging.

4. Grant GreenFlux Access

  1. Open the Smappee app
  1. Navigate to user management
  1. Add user with username: greenflux_api
  1. Confirm access rights are granted

5. Connect to Smart Charging Group

In the GreenFlux EVPortal:

  1. Open the smart charging group for which you want to set up the Smappee meter
  1. Choose "Capacity Management" as the algorithm
  1. Open Smappee Meter Settings from the group's dropdown menu
  1. Select optimization type (Building or Phase optimization)
  1. Enter the Smappee Genius serial number
  1. Select the appropriate submeters

Verification

After completing the setup:

  • Verify meter data is being received in the EVPortal
  • Check if smart charging group shows active status
  • Monitor initial charging sessions to ensure proper operation
Remember to maintain a stable internet connection for optimal performance. Data loss will result in charging capacity being limited to default safety values.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues:

  • Verify all load types are correctly configured in Smappee
  • Confirm internet connectivity is stable
  • Check if GreenFlux access permissions are properly set
  • Ensure the Smappee Genius serial number is entered correctly
