How to troubleshoot Payter Terminal ?

My Payter Terminal Doesn’t Work

There are usually a few common reasons why Payter terminals might not be working. Please see below.

1. Is Payter down?

Check if the service is down Payter BV status

2. Is your charger properly configured?

In cases when the session amount is higher than pre-auth amount (e.g. pre-auth amount is 50€ and the session price is 60€, there are 2 possible scenarios:

  1. Scenario 1: not enable over-commit. In this case we'll try to get the whole amount, but if that's not possible, only pre-auth amount will be substracted
  1. Scenario 2: enable over-commit HERE. Automatically session amount will be withdrawn from driver's bank account, if it's allowed by the bank. Otherwise same as scenario #1

To avoid most of the issues, we recommend to always use the highest amount allowed in your country for contactless payments

3. Is Your Payter Terminal Activated and in the Right Environment?

Greenflux operates with two environments – Acceptance and Production.

Payter also has two environments – Test and Production.

  1. Our Acceptance environment is linked to Payter’s Test environment.
  1. Our Production environment is connected to Payter’s Production environment.

For example, if your terminal is configured to Payter’s Test environment but you add the Payter  serial number to a charger in Greenflux's Production environment, it will not work.

4. Contactless Setup

To enable contactless payments, the contactless setup needs to be properly configured. Typically, based on your agreement with your Customer Success Manager (CSM), they will reach out to us to provide the technical details for the configuration. The crucial part for you is understanding which environment and which CPO ( specifically which CPO external id)  is configured.

If you decide to add a charger with a Payter terminal under a different CPO than what was communicated with the CSM, it will not work automatically. It is possible to have more CPOs configured for contactless payments. Since this is done one by one, if you have multiple CPOs, we can configure it at the CPO contract level. From the Greenflux side, if the charge station configuration is completed and the charger used for contactless payments is under the agreed CPO that has been shared with Greenflux, then everything that needs to be done is complete. If you still encounter issues, please contact Payter. See the following point below.

5. Payter Terminal is Not Properly Onboarded and Configured by Payter

When contacting Payter, make sure to specify which environment the terminal should be linked to (Test or Production). Ask them to verify that the terminals is activated and configured.

Note: You should be able to see your Payter terminals in the “MyPayter” portal. Payter has a  different portals for Test and Production environments.
