Detail of Events
A customer reported an error message in EV Portal: "Something went wrong. Please try again or contact support if this keeps happening. Correlation id: <ID>".
After a release, a mapper was not expecting to receive empty data, although this data was not required, it threw an Exception.
Within 3 hours after the first report, we published the fix to production, and mitigated the incident.
Mitigation and Resolution
The mapper was modified to work with the missing data, as this data is not required.
A regression unit test was introduced to verify that in the case of missing data, the mapper will still continue to behave and does not throw any exception.
Lessons Learned for System and Process Improvements
We need to improve automated tests for critical pieces of functionality.
