In order to make your operations smoother, it is now possible to add and update non-listed OCPP configuration variables through EV Portal. This improvement works for OCPP 1.6 chargers.
Why does it matter
Some manufacturers “hide” some OCPP configuration variables from the info the charger sends to the CPMS provider (aka GreenFlux). Although this is sometimes made with the purpose to safeguard access to sensitive configuration keys, that when changed accidentally may cause a field trip (e.g. if changing the charger OCPP ID, then it’s likely not possible to access it remotely). Given it’s been a recurrent request from GreenFlux CPO operators, we have implemented a way for you to still handle these configuration keys for your chargers, in order to save you time and unnecessary maintenance trips towards charger’s sites.
What’s new?
In EV Portal, Charge Station page, Configuration tab, users now have access to a new button which enables them to add an OCPP variable and set a certain value to it. Upon saving, a change configuration command is sent to the charger and you can then check Diagnostics tab to see if it’s been accepted by the charger and to check whether a reboot is required (response to the change configuration command typically provides that info).

- Set the name of the configuration variable → check manufacturer’s documentation when in doubt
- Set the value you want to assign to that configuration variable
