What’s Changing
To make your EV Portal account more secure, we are introducing Multifactor Authentication (MFA). This means that after entering your username and password, you’ll also confirm your identity using a Time‑based One‑Time Password (TOTP) generated by an Authenticator app.
Release Plan
This update is scheduled to be released at March 26, 2026. From that point forward, all users will be required to complete the new TOTP verification step when signing in.
What You’ll Experience
- Sign in as usual
- Enter your username and password on the EV Portal login page or login via your Active Directory.
- First‑time setup of MFA
- When MFA is turned on, you’ll be guided through a one‑time setup process.
- The EV Portal will display instructions and a QR code.
- Open your preferred Authenticator app on your phone, choose Add account, and scan the QR code.
- This links your EV Portal account with the Authenticator app.
- Verification step
- After setup, you’ll be redirected to a new page asking for a 6‑digit code.
- Open the Authenticator to view the code (it refreshes every 30 seconds).
- Enter the code into the EV Portal verification page.
- Access granted
- If the code is correct, you’ll be taken to your EV Portal dashboard.
Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).
- Use the QR code provided during your first login after MFA is enabled to link the app with your EV Portal account.
- Once linked, the app will automatically generate secure codes for you.
- Other Authenticator apps may be used as well.
Helpful Tips
- Codes expire quickly: If your code doesn’t work, wait for the next one to appear in the app.
- No internet needed: The app generates codes even if your phone is offline.
- Lost phone? Contact support immediately to regain access safely.
- Accessibility: The new page is designed to be mobile‑friendly and accessible for all users.
